The 436 mile Chattahoochee River runs from the northern mountains of Georgia near Helen to southern Georgia where it joins the Flint River to become the Apalachicola. The upper section as shown on this map is used mostly for fishing and canoeing. The lower section near Atlanta is known for rafting as well as fishing and canoeing.
